Since the appointment in 2019 of Ursula von der Leyen as the President of the European Commission, the work programme for the European Union has been framed along the lines of six ambitions:
- A European Green Deal;
- An economy that works for people;
- A Europe fit for the digital age;
- Promoting our European way of life;
- A stronger Europe in the world;
- A new push for European democracy.
Goal project
RELAY is a project that aims at discussing these guidelines with experts, stakeholders, students and citizens. It aims to make the process of EU integration more tangible and intends to involve citizens more closely; both when it comes to the internal and external dimension of the EU.
Partners
The project is coordinated by Maastricht University Campus Brussels and brings together a range of partners including Studio Europa Maastricht, CERiM, DCU, BISS and MSI.
After the kick-off conference held on 4 December, RELAY’s first thematic workshop will take place on 25 January 2021 from 9:30 to 16:00 on ‘The Green Deal: What are its Implications for Animals and Nature’.
Workshop
The central question of the webinar will be: ‘What are the current issues with regard to the sustainability goals the Green Deal should pursue and what actions are required to give animals and nature a more prominent role in the Green Deal debates?’
The full programme of the event can be found here.
This workshop will take place online via Zoom. Please follow this link to register and receive more information on how to connect. The deadline of the registration is 18 January.
