About the European Cartoon Award
The ECA, established in 2019, celebrates the crucial role of cartoonists in promoting open debate and questioning prevailing ideas. Cartoons hold a mirror to society, induce public debate, and inspire change.
The ECA winner receives €10,000, with two runners-up and two honourable mentions recognised.
Award ceremony on Cartoons Day
The ‘Cartoons Day’ features workshops, panels, and talks, connecting experts, activists, artists, and cartoonists. The award ceremony, at 18:30, will reveal the five winners selected from 414 entries by a jury of experts.
The forty cartoons on the longlist will be part of the exhibition opening at the Beeld & Geluid museum in The Hague on 14 September, during the ECA’s first Cartoons Day.
Join us on September 14 to celebrate these talented artists!
