We are proud to announce the shortlist for the European Cartoon Award 2023! After reviewing 414 entries, a jury of five experts in editorial cartoons and journalism has selected the 16 best cartoons.
The shortlist includes captivating cartoons ranging from witty and satirical to thought-provoking and insightful.
About the European Cartoon Award
The European Cartoon Award (ECA) was founded in 2019 by the European Press Prize and Studio Europa Maastricht. It aims to recognise and encourage cartoonists who play a crucial role in quality journalism and promote an open dialogue about Europe.
The European Cartoon Award offers a prize of €10,000 to the winner, along with two runners-up and two honourable mention awards.
Award ceremony
This year, the European Cartoon Award dedicates 14 September as the first Cartoons Day. It will feature panels, workshops, and discussions centered around editorial cartoons, culminating in the award ceremony of the ECA 2023. The event will also open an exhibition showcasing the top 40 cartoons of this edition.
