Crisis in Europe & Beyond
8 June 2022 @ 15:00–18:00
From the COVID pandemic and violent conflict in Ukraine to the looming climate emergency and rising levels of socioeconomic precarity, Europe today is awash in a multitude of discussions about crisis. While many of us at UM may not readily identify ourselves as crisis researchers, upon closer inspection, our work often has very deep relevance for understanding some of the big pressing problems unfolding in the world around us.
As a way to help the academic community at UM to boost the relevance and impact of their research, Studio Europa Maastricht and Maastricht Young Academy is sponsoring an interfaculty collaboration event in the hopes that addressing these problems from a more holistic, interdisciplinary approach will provide new insights and potential solutions.
This event will unfold in two parts: First, several UM colleagues, who recently received funding from Maastricht Young Academy and Studio Europa Maastricht to conduct interfaculty research will briefly showcase their collaborative projects and reveal a bit of behind the scenes in terms of how they started their interdisciplinary collaboration. Second, we invite you to participate in a short hackathon session, where you can explore concrete possibilities for doing collaborative interdisciplinary research with colleagues from other faculties at UM.
As an added incentive, the participants who come up with the “best” idea for a collaboration during the hackathon session will win a subscription to the European Review of Books for a full year!Sign up
