Visit the interactive phone booth during Europe Day in Centre Céramique
On 9 May, Europe Day, visitors can step inside the ‘Talk EU to Me’ phone booth at Centre Céramique in Maastricht. Guests can pick up the phone and listen to a series of misogynistic remarks made by Members of the European Parliament in recent years.
The project aims to raise awareness of sexism in society, whilst at the same time prompting visitors to reflect on gender equality and the representation of women in European politics.
Write a message
After listening to all the statements, visitors can write a message on the phone booth. In this way, the project continues to evolve and the message to the outside world becomes more powerful. There are also leaflets available for those interested in finding out more about the project. The audio in the phone booth is in English.
‘Talk EU to Me’ is an idea of Studio Europa Maastricht and was created in collaboration with the Jan van Eyck Academy, Stem op een Vrouw, the TWICEASGOOD research project (Julia van Zijl) and actress Julia van de Kar.
