23 April | 11:0012:30

| Spoken language: Dutch

On June 6, 2024, the Netherlands will head to the polls again for the European Parliament elections. But what are the positions of the different parties regarding Europe? How do they view migration, climate and EU expansion? And what have they achieved in Brussels in recent years?

On April 23, the Studio Europa Expertise Centre, in collaboration with De Kiesmannen, is organizing a day dedicated to the European Parliament elections at the Vista College in Maastricht.

‘European influencers’ with De KIESMANNEN

What is the European Union like? What role does the EU play in your life? And what are you actually voting for? In the ‘European Influencers’ school programme, De Kiesmannen give a crash course in the European Union using videos, interactive games and humour. During the lesson programme, young people are encouraged to think about these different statements in order to get them more involved in politics. Because they are the future!

Interactive conversation with MBO students

An interactive panel discussion that focuses on the importance of the European Parliament elections for MBO students. The EU makes decisions that affect the lives of MBO students, such as supporting internships and studies abroad through the Erasmus grant, influencing job opportunities after study through investments in sectors such as tech and climate and immigration policy, and developing legislation regarding identity and data protection on the Internet.

Participants in the conversation

  • Maurice de Heus, journalist and programme maker at L1. Presenter of Evening Guests Europe
  • Gabrielle Heine, municipal councillor and CDA Maastricht faction leader
  • Marlou Jenneskens, member of parliament and group leader D66 Limburg
  • Youth representative on behalf of the VISTA college

The conversation will be moderated by Job Zomerplaag, programme maker at Studio Europa Maastricht.
