Roundtable discussion: What way forward for EU Migration Policy?

Studio Europa Maastricht and the European Policy Centre will host a closed-door roundtable on EU migration policy on 24 June 2026 at the UM Brussels Hub.

Taking place shortly after the implementation of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, the event will reflect on the EU’s transition into a new phase marked by both implementation and longer-term strategic reflection. Discussions will address key challenges related to enforcement and compliance, the development of a common return framework, and the broader evolution of EU migration policy in a rapidly changing geopolitical context.

The event will bring together experts from Studio Europa Maastricht and the European Policy Centre, alongside a select group of invited participants, including policymakers from EU institutions, representatives of national authorities, international organisations, and think tanks. It will feature an interactive exchange aimed at fostering dialogue between experts and policymakers and contributing to ongoing policy debates in Brussels and beyond.

The roundtable is organised as part of the joint SEM–EPC Policy Brief Collection on migration, which seeks to provide timely, evidence-based insights and strengthen the link between research and EU policymaking .
