Podcast launch: Europe around you

What places or events in the Netherlands have shaped the history of Europe or the European Union? What is European heritage, maybe even without knowing it? And what does this mean for today’s Europe – and for you?

On 12 January 2023, DutchCulture is proud to launch the new podcast Europe around you, about Dutch heritage that is granted the European Heritage Label. It will be an evening full of stories about Europe, heritage around us and hidden histories. With Mick ter Reehorst of Are We Europe, representatives of European Heritage Label locations, and young creators.

Speakers:

  • Mick ter Reehorst (1992) is the founder and managing director of Are We Europe, a media collective making productions across Europe with the collective of over 800 young creative makers. He also started Awe Studio, which focuses on productions for other organisations. Mick is committed to mentoring a new generation of creators and a new wave of media, with design thinking and entrepreneurship at its core. He also makes podcasts and other productions; for Europe Around You, he was the producer and host.
  • Amber-Helena Reisig (b. 1992) is a poet and prose writer. She is under contract to publishers Prometheus for a novel and poetry collection. In the years 2013 and 2014, she was city poet of Heerlen. Her work was included in several anthologies and published in Das Mag and De Volkskrant, among others. As a poetry slammer, she has been performing on stages in the Netherlands, Flanders and Canada since the age of 12, including six years at theatre festival de Parade. She regularly writes on commission for TV, radio and government agencies. She currently works as a content creator at Studio Europa Maastricht, a Europe-related centre of expertise.
