The shifting sands of Europe: COVID-19, energy, and the drumbeat of war
22 June 2022 @ 09:00–18:30
Just as Europe was recovering from the pandemic, dealing with a cost of living crisis and challenges in the east to the rule of law, war has returned to the continent. The concoction of crises leaves Europe reeling, its sands shifting. This year, 89 Initiative will launch a hybrid policy conference to address how Europe responds to shifting sands. Through panels and keynote addresses, its 18 research programmes will discuss their research and apply their insights to the major challenges of the day. Can this and future generations of European leaders show the unity and agility required, or will internal divisions mean it falls short? The stakes simply cannot be higher.
This conference is organised in partnership with Studio Europa Maastricht, of Maastricht University, which is co-hosting the event with our Dutch chapter, 89 Netherlands at the gorgeous Campus Brussels! As such, the main event is taking place at the most gorgeous room at Campus Brussels, Bel-étage. Can’t make it in person? No worries, we also have livestreams on Facebook and at our satellite networking event at the London School of Economics (LSE).
