Enrolled students and citizens will be able to attend all lectures or participate in individual lectures that are of interest to them. Following the completion of the YUFE-SEM Working on Europe Academy 2022, the certificate of attendance will be provided upon request.
Structure and teaching methods
Sessions will be comprised of two parts. The first part will include a lecture with a detailed presentation of the topic. In contrast, the second block will be dedicated to a discussion, critical debate or hands-on learning experience, following the principles of Problem Based Learning.
About Working on Europe Academy
YUFE-SEM Working on Europe Academy is a series of student and citizens-based, research-centred lectures jointly organised by the Maastricht University and Studio Europa Maastricht (SEM) under the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) alliance.
The upcoming lecture series aims to provide unique and interdisciplinary research on Europe and European integration. Fostered through a proactive and critical debate, students and citizens will be engaged in exploring the most relevant concerns of the European Project and discover their role in shaping its future.
By focusing on the research, stories, and heritage of Europe, our multidisciplinary team of researchers will facilitate a digital, interactive, and knowledge-based platform for dialogue and debate, covering the topics of:
- Democracy, politics, security and rule of law
- Identity, heritage and the citizens’ perspective
- Prosperity, welfare and inequality
- Knowledge, technology and digitalisation
This year’s week-long edition of the Working on Europe Academy will be comprised of coursework highlighting citizens’ wellbeing, inclusiveness, and diversity. Hosted by Studio Europa Maastricht, students will explore, discuss, and jointly define their role in making this project fit for the future. The academy will provide a meeting place for European students and citizens working on a better Europe. To that end, we are excited to welcome the next generation of young ambassadors who want to learn more about overcoming the current challenges and ensuring the sustainability of the admirable European integrational project!
Who are we looking for?
We are looking forward to welcoming highly engaged students and citizens excited to work on innovative solutions ensuring the sustainability of European values. We pursue participants eager to broaden their horizons and advance our mutual passion for strengthening European integration, increasing citizens’ welfare, and bringing European inclusiveness to the forefront of discussion.
What do we offer?
- Our team of researchers will provide a student and citizens-centred lecture series delivered across the YUFE alliance, where students and citizens from diverse backgrounds and all study levels can obtain knowledge and develop an in-depth understanding of the topics on European integration.
- We offer an inclusive lecturing and working environment where students and citizens can develop professional competencies and pan-European, interdisciplinary networks of connection to tackle the European pressing concerns.
- Upon completion of the Working on Europe Academy, students and citizens will recieve a Certificate of Attendance.
