Lecture by Alan Irwin,
Professor of Organizations, Risk and Environment, Copenhagen Business School

As many commentators have observed, the push to innovation is a major theme of modern life. In this changing context, questions of science, citizenship and the role of knowledge institutions seem more important than ever. Specifically, how can universities make a larger democratic contribution to exploring socio-technical futures? What would it mean to put “public value” at the core of European universities? And what possibilities are there for enhanced citizen engagement within these processes of innovation and change?

Following the presentation by Professor Alan Irwin, there will be time for audience dialogue, discussion and critical reflection on the questions raised.

This lecture is organised by Studium Generale, the Maastricht Platform for Community-Engaged Research (MPCER) and Studio Europa Maastricht.
