About this event
Limburg has the ambition to lead the transition to a circular economy in the Netherlands and Europe. A sustainable vision of the future in which waste no longer exists is slowly but surely taking shape. However, the promise of a circular economy is not easily fulfilled.
On January 17, 2024, leading figures from Limburg and the Euregio came together at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus for ‘Captains of Circularity’. This event, organized by Maastricht University, Studio Europa Maastricht and the Maastricht Sustainability Institute, consisted of a program in which decision makers, thinkers and doers exchanged their knowledge and experiences in the circular economy. They also discussed the blind spots and dilemmas in current policy, business operations and cooperation between different sectors.
This online magazine offers a detailed look back at the event. It contains the various presentations, a report of the panel discussion and a collection of policy advice from researchers at Maastricht University. You will also find an impression of the atmosphere and interviews of the day. The magazine ends with a reflection from the organizers, in which they share their insights and experiences of the day.
