About this project
In the Europe Speeches series, Studio Europa invites leading political figures to Maastricht, the city where the Maastricht Treaty laid the foundations of the European Union, to share their vision on the future of Europe.
Each speech addresses a pressing European question of its time: the war in Ukraine, European security and defence, the Union’s fiscal rules, EU enlargement and Europe’s place in a changing world. Previous speakers include Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Dutch ministers Sigrid Kaag, Kajsa Ollongren, Ruben Brekelmans and Tom Berendsen.
The speeches are open to the public and bring together students, researchers, policymakers and citizens from Maastricht and the wider region. Below you can rewatch the recordings and read more about each speech.
